What Challenges are you solving in this industry

  • Cyber security of operational networks [CS]

Description of solution

Sasa Software’s GateScanner suite employs Content Disarm and Reconstruction (CDR) technology to provide extreme file-sanitization capability, supporting high-security OT/ICS network isolation schemes. GateScanner’s content sanitization engines transparently purge all incoming data from email, portable media devices, web downloads, file-shares, cloud stores and API’s, from hidden embedded malware, effectively protecting sensitive networks from known or unknown (‘signature-less’) embedded malware.

GateScanner’s modular architecture offers a range of solutions to match flexible configurations for any existing network and security configurations – legacy or other.

GateScanner’s data diode product – GateScanner Injector – provides air-gapped isolation for high sensitivity networks, and when coupled with GateScanner Kiosk allows for the updating of systems via portable media devices (USB/CD) without incurring cyber risk.

Additionally, the GateScanner Appliance module offers full full-HD scans of computing devices such as required upon return from third party service providers, to ensure that no embedded malware has arrived from the maintenance and supply chains.

What is the value you bring to your customers?

Targeted ransomware attacks on industrial control systems (ICS) and operational technology (OT) networks are increasing rapidly. Remotely operated by attack professionals and designed to dig deep into targeted networks, they encrypt the most valuable assets they can find, and demand significant ransoms for the entire network value. Targeted ransom are generally greater than $100,000 USD and there are reports of demands of up to $10 million USD.

Most ransomware attacks begin with a file-based infiltration arriving on standard channels such as email.Standard AV tools are not capable of detecting new/unknown, hence ‘signature-less’, malware, rendering them useless in the face of the highly sophisticated, government-grade codes employed by today’s attackers.

GateScanner’s Content Disarm and Reconstruction (CDR) cybersecurity technology strips all incoming files of all but their operational content and encapsulates it in a completely new file. This government-grade file sanitization technology, available until recently only to government agencies and national critical and health infrastructures is now available to all sectors where protection of sensitive assets is paramount to the continuing viability of the enterprise. Following implementation of GateScanner CDR protection systems, clients have seen a 99% decrease in intrusion attempts arriving through their content channels.
