What Challenges are you solving in this industry

  • Cyber security of operational networks [CS]

Description of solution

Sasa Software’s GateScanner suite features proprietary Content Disarm and Reconstruction (CDR) technology to provide pharmaceutical and chemical industries with comprehensive file-sanitization tools supporting network security at the highest level.

Each and every incoming file is effectively sanitized by replacement, preventing infiltration of malicious agents – both known as well as previously unknown (‘signature-less’) – that may be hidden in the incoming content files.

GateScanner cleanses all content arriving from email, USB, computing devices, cloud shares, API’s, web downloads and public portals, protecting the enterprise from any external contamination such as from supply chain partners.

GateScanner Injector, a unidirectional data diode compliments the GateScanner file sanitization engines by allowing critical, sanitized data, such as OT software updates, to flow into protected highly sensitive production line networks, while preventing any data from leaving them..

GateScanner’s granular content management applied to the outgoing content stream of open IT networks helps prevent data exfiltration, protecting the enterprise’ IP, and enabling the implementation of DLP and data protection policies in support of industry and legal compliance (GDPR, HIPPA, CCA).

What is the value you bring to your customers?

Cyber security is a main concern in the Pharma industry with companies holding troves of sensitive data on patients, drugs, trials and innovative technology.

A key challenge for information security in this industry is how to safeguard the digital assets and reduce cyber attacks, with the average cost of a pharma breach soaring to an estimated $5.04 million in 2021.

Human error and negligence remain major drivers of data breaches and cyberattacks. Employees accidentally clicking on links, downloading files or sharing data, offer an open door for cyber criminals to intercept or steal information.

GateScanner’s zero-trust approach to content completely bypasses any user judgment, submitting every shared or downloaded file for rigorous inspection and decontamination prior to transmission to its destination. This creates a pristine internal network environment while blocking any possible malware infiltration (incoming) or sensitive data exfiltration (outgoing), whether intentionally or due to negligence. Following implementation of GateScanner CDR protection systems, clients have seen a 99% decrease in intrusion attempts arriving through their content channels.
