What Challenges are you solving in this industry

  • Cyber security of operational networks [CS]

Description of solution

Most advanced cyber attacks, such as ransomware, begin with network infiltration, typically achieved through an innocent-looking link or attached operational file, arriving on the normal communication channels.

Sasa Software’s GateScanner suite uses proprietary Content Disarm and Reconstruction (CDR) technology to proactively prevent file-based infiltration, by disinfecting each and every incoming file received by email or cloud-shares, uploaded to the internal network from any end-point, or downloaded from the web.

This proactive approach to incoming content, coupled with a proven content sanitization capability that provides up to 99.99% prevention of known and unknown (‘signature-less’) file-based malware, makes GateScanner the choice of governments, security agencies, financial services companies, healthcare organizations and critical infrastructure providers around the world.

What is the value you bring to your customers?

In 2021 four different cyber attacks were launched against water plants in the USA and another was reported in Israel, raising alarms regarding the generally insufficient security profile of this sector. Antiquated SCADA systems and loose adherence to security policies made water plants easy prey for hackers attempting to poison the drinking water of millions.

Effective measures to boost security in water plants include the complete separation of the OT network from the IT network, preferably with a physical disconnect such as a diode-facilitated air gap. One of the challenges that comes with network segmentation is retaining the ability to transfer critical data, such as emails and software updates, safely into the isolated OT network, without compromising its security.

Enter GateScanner suite. With it’s different modules, GateScanner enables the unidirectional flow of fully sanitized content from the IT to the OT through a dedicated data diode (GateScanner Injector) connected to GateScanner CDR file sanitization engines, maintaining both connectivity and segregation of the OT network.

GateScanner represents a proactive approach to network security which assumes all incoming files are dangerous, exempting none from deep CDR disinfection. Following implementation of GateScanner CDR protection systems, clients have seen a 99% decrease in intrusion attempts arriving through their content channels.
